Latgran earns the “Green Gold Label” certificate
In July of this year, we have obtained a certificate of conformity to the “Green Gold Label” standard. In order to ensure that our product can bear this label, there must be confirmations in place, proving that pellets are produced in an environmentally friendly way and bearing in mind labour safety provisions, using exclusively wood of lawful origin, and to ensure that the product would reach the client in a pure condition, without harmful admixtures. The standard requirement implementation includes also greenhouse gas estimations to control the emissions occurring as a result of entrepreneurial activity.
The “Green Gold Label” programme is a certification system for sustainable natural resource use, in particular for biomass. It includes all stages of the chain: starting from the production process down to product consumption. Studies for developing this programme were initiated by the company Essent, which is one of the biggest Dutch energy resource producers and suppliers, in collaboration with the organisation Control Union Certification. Within the framework of the programme, technical, environmental, and economic aspects were studied in sustainable production of biomass. Currently, this system is monitored by the independent organisation Green Gold Label Fund.
The term of validity of the certificate is 16 months and once per year, monitoring audits are performed; upon assessing the results of these audits, a decision will be taken on extending the validity of the certificate.
