October 2011 – New Production Unit in Kraslava is Open
On 27 October, we celebrated the opening of our new factory in Kraslava. This is our most recent and most modern production unit, in which we have aspired to combine the best technical solutions in line with the experience accumulated over many years. The production capacity is 150 thousand tons of pellets per year and 32 employees work at the factory. Unlike the other two “Latgran” factories, the new unit is connected with a railroad branch, which enables transporting the pellets using also the railroad.
Among the invitees to the opening ceremony were the company’s employees from other factories, as well as collaboration partners and representatives of the local authority. A special train was organised in honour of the opening to bring the guests from the Riga Central Train Station to the doorstep of Krāslava factory, stopping on the way to pick up “Latgran” passengers at the train stations of Aizkraukle and Jēkabpils. To entertain the guests during the long trip, various engaging entertainment activities and competitions were organised on board, and, of course, refreshments were provided, as well.
The festive opening ceremony with ribbon cutting and releasing balloons was led by Latgran Board members – Jarl Ragnar Wallden, Roland Lars Jansson, Dace Karklina, and Martins Zvejnieks.
