SIA “Latgran” Policy for Quality, Environment, and Labour Safety

The operational policy of SIA “Latgran” is focused on product quality, volume, and client satisfaction. When setting forth the business goals, we do not accept compromises in matters related to decreasing environmental impact, labour safety, quality production, and delivery to the client. The expertise of our employees and the integrated management system form an important tool in achieving these goals.

The integrated management system of SIA “Latgran” includes three standards – ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System, and OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

The operations of SIA “Latgran” have always been and will always be based on the effective domestic legislation governing the spheres of labour, environment, and entrepreneurship, as well as on continuous compliance with other requirements binding for the company and on assessment of fulfilment of these requirements. Being aware of the specifics of our company’s operations, the possible impact on the environment and on health of our employees, we are continuously controlling the company’s working processes and conditions, and we follow the resource consumption amounts; furthermore, we are continuously striving to improve our performance in matters of environment, labour safety, and quality: 

• when taking new decisions regarding the company’s operations, we assess the impact of these decisions on labour safety and environment and we choose those solutions which are friendlier in terms of environment and safety of the employees;
• for the purposes of control and prevention, we continuously identify and assess threats and risks for safety and health of the employees. We realise our accountability for injuries and bad health condition originating due to accidents;
• we are taking the necessary measures to avoid increasing the amount of used resources where possible, and we are systematically striving to decrease the resource consumption, while caring for decreased pollution;
• insofar as it is reasonably possible, we are collaborating only with partners, who are operating according to the same principles as our company in respect to the matters of quality, environment, and labour safety;
• we are regularly briefing and training our employees about the matters of environment and labour safety what concerns the company’s operations directly and indirectly, that way ensuring that each employee would be aware of their significance and their potential for conserving the environment and observing safety. 

Policy for Supply of Raw Materials

Our product is environmentally friendly biofuel, and bearing in mind environmental protection, we care for the origins of raw materials and forward-looking management of natural resources. The FSC certificate received by our company confirms that we collaborate only with suppliers, who ensure a socially responsible, environmentally friendly, and sustainable forest management policy and we can be certain about legality of origins of the raw timber materials:

• we are using controlled timber, for which the suppliers can ensure traceability of origin; 
•  we are using controlled timber, supplied by a FSC-certified supplier of controlled timber products;
• our suppliers undertake to ensure that the used timber is not procured illegally by infringing the rights of local residents during the logging process, by adversely affecting any of the high-quality forest elements in high-quality forests, by genetically modifying the forests, or by transforming the forest land.

SIA “Latgran” operational policy determines that in case if risk assessment for forests in Latvia changes, the company will reconsider the conditions for supply and acceptance of controlled timber materials.
